I'm the maker. I built SmartSLD because I kept watching electrical contractors and solar installers wrestle AutoCAD for diagrams that are mostly the same 3 patterns. Utility, main breaker, bus, loads. Repeat. The two existing options are bad in opposite ways. AutoCAD Electrical is the industry standard, but it's expensive and has a steep learning curve. Generic diagram tools like draw.io are easy to use but have no electrical layout algorithm and no real component library. And none of them have AI. Three things I'm proud of: 1. The AI doesn't dump JSON at you. It calls atomic editor operations, so one prompt equals one undo. The diagram never gets into a "almost right" state where you have to manually patch the output. 2. The image-to-diagram works on hand-drawn sketches, not just clean schematics. Whiteboard photo turns into an editable SLD. 3. The editor core is open source: github.com/NovaShang/sldeditor It's free, with a per-user daily AI quota (100 messages plus 20 image requests). Not a free-trial gimmick.
