The inspiration for Vantinel came from a personal "Monday morning billing nightmare" where a developer's AI agent got stuck in a loop over a weekend, burning $847 in API credits in just three hours. Realizing that existing observability tools were primarily "log-first" (reactive), the project was built to provide a real-time guardrails layer that intercepts tool calls before they execute. The goal is to prevent zombie loops, budget overruns, and dangerous operations in production without adding significant latency.
