one months ago, I was building an AI agent that needed to recommend tools to users. Simple task, right? Just find the best AI tools and suggest them.
Except it wasn't simple at all.
Every directory I checked had the same problems: tools ranked by stars (which means nothing about quality), lists that hadn't been updated in months, and no way to actually use the tools people recommended. A "popular AI coding assistant" with 40k stars that was abandoned two years ago? Still at the top. A brand new tool with 200 stars that's actually used by thousands of developers? Buried on page 5.
I started manually curating a list. Then I started scraping directories. Then I realized the best source was hiding in plain sight: GitHub itself.
GitHub has every AI tool that matters. Stars, recent activity, real contributors, actual usage ā it's all there. The problem was nobody had organized it in a way that was actually useful for finding tools.
So we built AitFind.
The agent I was building? It's running on AitFind's API now. When you ask it to find "a tool that helps me build RAG applications," it doesn't just throw popular names at you. It finds tools ranked by real quality signals, with working repos you can actually fork.
That's the difference.
