When working with multiple AI providers, I kept losing track of important messages and insights in long chat threads. I was also constantly switching between different tabs and tools just to compare responses from different models. The goal behind ThoughtRAIL was to create a single workspace where conversations can branch, compare models, and preserve key insights without losing context. Initially, the idea was simply to make it easier to compare responses from different AI providers. But while building it, I realized the deeper opportunity was to support exploratory thinking with AI. That led to features like conversation branching, pinned checkpoints, second opinions, and GoldenEye synthesis (AI Reviewing AI). The process evolved from solving a practical workflow issue to experimenting with how AI tools could better support structured, innovative thinking.
