Hey everyone 👋 I built SpeakGator because of my own frustration learning German 🇩🇪 I live in Germany, but 99% of my work and network is in English. Even after completing official courses up to B2, I still didn’t feel conversational. I could understand a lot — but speaking confidently was a completely different story. On top of that, I’m a new dad 👶. I only have a few quiet minutes late at night to practice while my 5-month-old daughter is asleep. Scheduling speaking partners or attending classes just isn’t realistic. I tried practicing with ChatGPT, but the experience didn’t feel right for language learning. The behavior wasn’t structured for fluency training, the conversations drifted, and it didn’t keep me engaged.
