Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Tim, the maker of StackerScan.

I started stacking gold and silver decades ago and quickly ran into a problem every physical metals investor knows: tracking your portfolio is a mess. You're juggling spreadsheets, manually converting between troy ounces and grams, looking up spot prices, and trying to remember what you actually paid for that tube of Eagles three years ago. It's tedious enough that most stackers just… don't bother.

I wanted something purpose-built — not a generic finance app, not a spreadsheet template — something that actually understands precious metals. So I built StackerScan.

The core idea is that AI should handle the annoying parts. When you log a transaction, it normalizes the weight, purity, and product details automatically. Snap a photo of a receipt or invoice and it extracts the data for you. Already have a stack? Import your spreadsheet and the AI maps your columns and cleans up the data.

The approach evolved a lot along the way. I started with AI-powered receipt scanning, but found that what many stackers actually needed was robust AI assistance to find and specify products during manual entry. And all of the feedback stackers gave me during the beta phase shaped what StackerScan became.

Would love to get your take — and if you stack precious metals, I'd especially be interested to know what features would make this indispensable for you.
