I'm Roberto, and I built Viska because I just refused to upload my private meetings that contain IP or NDAs to the cloud for another company to save on their servers.
Every meeting transcription tool wants you to trust their cloud. "We encrypt everything!" "We don't sell your data!" What about the otter.ai class action lawsuit?. I think the moment your audio leaves your device, you've already lost control.
I couldn't find a mobile app that did all I wanted, there were apps with pocket llms and apps that locally transcribe. I didn't just want to record and transcribe locally because realistically how often do we read an hour worth of audio text? so I wanted a way to chat with a local llm about my meeting, ask it what was said about this what was said about that, to summarize as a quick search also why should I search for something from the meeting when I can just ask. Finally I also wanted that if I changed phones to bring my notes with me and everything else so I added an export import capability where I can export all my data securely and encrypted and import it in the new phone.

Who I think this is for? Journalists that want to protect their source and reports, Lawyers with client privacy, Executive or Entrepreneurs with ideas or IP, Contractors or Consultants with NDAs or anyone who values privacy
Honest Trade offs: Have to remember this is all happening on you device entirely so transcription takes some time depending on the length for example for a 30min meeting is about 2-3 minutes on iOS and longer for android since it only uses RAM for processing but on android you can leave the app and it will notify you when it is done. The LLM is perfect for the notes since there is no discussion you are getting insights , searches, general questons, but you won't get chatGPT or other large cloud based LLM type summaries.
