I was inspired to build this after seeing a wave of AI visibility tools that showed whether a brand appeared in AI answers, but offered no guidance on what to do next. Knowing you were cited or not cited wasn’t useful if you couldn’t act on it. At the same time, I kept seeing marketers try to apply traditional SEO tools and tactics to AI discovery. That approach breaks down quickly. AI systems don’t evaluate or reuse content the same way search engines do, so optimization strategies need to change. Citation Readiness emerged as part of a broader shift in thinking. Instead of monitoring outcomes, it focuses on whether a website is even eligible to be used by AI systems in the first place. It gives marketers and agencies concrete guidance on how to structure, clarify, and strengthen content so it’s usable by AI and positioned to remain discoverable as behavior moves from search to AI answers. This is the first piece of a larger Website Intelligence toolkit, with additional capabilities rolling out over the coming weeks.
