MapLink Router

MapLink Router

Route Safari map links to Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze.

MapLink Router lets you choose your preferred map app (Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze) for supported map links in Safari. Unlike similar tools, it focuses on reliability and safety: routing happens entirely on-device, with no tracking or analytics, and links are only redirected when they can be confidently understood. Unsupported or ambiguous links are left untouched. A built-in test page helps verify setup and preview how different map links will behave before you rely on it day to day.

Hey Product Hunt 👋 I built MapLink Router after repeatedly running into the same frustration on iOS: tapping a map link in Safari and having it open in the wrong app — or worse, behave differently depending on the site. Existing tools often worked… until they didn’t, and it was hard to tell whether something was broken or just unsupported. This project was also an experiment: we challenged ourselves to design, spec, and build a production-quality Safari extension in ~30 days using AI as much as possible — from market analysis to routing logic. But the goal wasn’t the experiment; it was reliability and trust. That’s why MapLink Router is very explicit about scope, routes links only when they can be confidently understood, and includes a built-in test page to verify setup and expected behavior before you rely on it. I’d love feedback on two things in particular: • cases where routing behaves unexpectedly • map link types or sites you rely on that aren’t handled yet Thanks for checking it out — happy to answer anything!

Wow, cool idea - I had how variable map link clicks are generally

@daniele_packard Thanks! Yeah, that inconsistency was exactly what pushed me to build this — different sites, different link formats, and Safari handling them all slightly differently.

If you run into any specific map links that behave oddly (coordinates, short links, embeds, etc.), I’d love to test and tighten coverage.
