Trad AI

AI translation platform

Trad AI is a context-driven translation platform built for professional linguists. Unlike traditional CAT tools or generic machine translation, Trad AI processes your document as a single narrative—preserving terminology, tone, and structure from start to finish. At the same time, it automatically generates a Translation Memory (TMX export), so you can reuse and refine translations across projects without juggling multiple tools.

When I started building Trad-AI, I was inspired by a simple frustration: professional translators often face a trade-off between speed and quality. Existing AI translation tools were fast, but they lacked context, consistency, and integration with workflows like Translation Memory. On the other hand, traditional CAT tools were powerful but slow to adapt to the new AI era. The problem I wanted to solve was bridging that gap—creating a platform where translators could harness AI for full-document, context-aware translations while still keeping control over terminology, tone, and data security. That’s why Trad-AI works with your own OpenAI API key and automatically generates TMX files for reuse in CAT tools. The process evolved a lot during this launch. Initially, I thought of it as just “AI-powered translation,” but through feedback from linguists and editors, I realized the real value was in workflow integration—making sure AI fits into existing professional practices rather than replacing them. That’s how features like tone/domain controls, formatting preservation, and team collaboration came to life. I’m excited to share Trad-AI with the Product Hunt community today. Whether you’re a freelancer, an agency, or part of a team, I’d love to hear how you see AI shaping the future of translation.
