Cloak

Use ChatGPT without leaking your private data.

We have all hesitated before pasting a work email or code snippet into ChatGPT. You worry about privacy, so you waste time manually deleting details. Cloak fixes this. It sits in your browser and automatically swaps sensitive data like names and phone numbers with safe placeholders before they hit OpenAI. When the answer comes back, it restores the original details instantly. You get the full power of AI without ever exposing your private data. It happens entirely locally on your device.

Hey Product Hunt community, I am the maker behind Cloak. I built this project because I kept running into the same problem every day. I would go to copy a support ticket or a resume into ChatGPT to get some help, but then I would freeze up because I was worried about sending private data to OpenAI. I ended up wasting so much time manually deleting names and emails before pasting anything. I figured there had to be a better way, so I built Cloak to handle it automatically. It is a simple browser extension that acts as a privacy layer. It scans your text for sensitive info like emails or phone numbers and swaps them out for anonymous placeholders before the request ever leaves your browser. When ChatGPT responds, Cloak swaps the real details back in instantly. The most important part for me was trust. I designed it to run 100% locally on your device using Regex. No user data is ever sent to my servers or anywhere else. I will be hanging around the comments all day. I would really love to hear what you think and if there are other types of data you want me to add next. Thanks so much for checking it out.
