We built The Weekend Club after seeing the same pattern in every city: travelers, expats, and nomads want to meet real locals, but the usual tools rarely turn into a real plan. Meanwhile, locals want to expand their circle without DMing 100 strangers, getting trapped in awkward group chats, or wasting another weekend on “maybe plans.” People want connection just not the chaos. We started in peak-scrappy mode: a Google Form and bank transfers. We matched tables by hand, booked restaurants manually, and emailed details ourselves. Demand grew fast—and once you’re handling 1,000 signups a month, you can’t “spreadsheet your way out” of compatibility, no-shows, and logistics: who’s met already, who’s vegetarian, who speaks Chinese, who’s in a similar age range, who actually shows up. That’s when we built the product: AI that leaves the screen and works in real life. The Weekend Club is a guaranteed offline ritual—a 6-person brunch at a reserved restaurant. You share a quick quiz, availability, and context (basic profile, social intent, languages, and after-brunch vibe like coffee/walk/exhibitions). Our system builds the best-fitting table, and every Friday you get the venue plus one-line intros—then you just show up. No swiping. No endless DMs. No awkward inviting. What makes it stand out is the safety + reliability system that makes this scalable and efficient. Members complete front-camera face verification with human review to prevent impersonation and scams; unverified users are treated as higher-risk and pay a higher fee to discourage abuse. After brunch, ratings and compliments improve future matching while blacklisting no-shows and repeat bad actors. New in this launch: we pair matching with risk management: our AI flags higher-risk users who might ruin the experience, and pricing can fluctuate (they pay more to reserve a seat) to protect everyone else. It’s already proven across Asia (Taipei, Hong Kong, Seoul, Singapore) because it consistently turns “I don’t know anyone here” into a real table this weekend.
