In my last startup, I was the classic technical founder. I had a product I was proud of, but my sales meetings were total fiascos. The worst part? I didn’t even know they were fiascos at the time. The prospects would smile, nod, and be incredibly polite, but the deals always went cold. I’d walk away thinking it went well, right! It was painful to realize that even though I could build anything, I had no idea how to actually close a deal. I tried sales books and tools. All the sales tools were build for sales-focused teams who sell full day, not for engineers or product people like myself. That's why I decided with my friend that we need to build a tool for those who build, but need to sell as well!
