WhisperDictation for Mac - Faster better

I built Whisper Dictation because I was frustrated with the existing options for voice-to-text on Mac.

Apple's built-in dictation? Keeps timing out and the accuracy is... let's say "creative" with technical terms. Cloud services? I wasn't comfortable sending my voice recordings to external servers, especially for work-related content.

Then OpenAI released Whisper — an incredibly accurate speech recognition model. The problem? Running it required Python, Terminal commands, and technical setup that most people don't want to deal with.

So I wrapped it into a simple Mac app. Press a hotkey, speak, release — your words appear wherever your cursor is. That's it.

The key difference from other solutions:
🔒 100% local processing — Your voice never leaves your Mac. No cloud, no servers, no data collection. This was non-negotiable for me.
✈️ Works completely offline — I travel a lot and needed something that works on planes, in cafés with bad WiFi, everywhere.
💰 One-time purchase — No subscriptions. I personally hate software that nickel-and-dimes you monthly for basic functionality.

I've been using it daily for months now — emails, Slack messages, documentation, even some code comments. It's genuinely changed how I work.
