I built Besmeo to solve a personal frustration: scanning a QR code at a restaurant only to land on a tiny, unreadable PDF file on Google Drive. 🔍 As a customer, I hated pinching and zooming to read the menu. But as a developer, I understood the restaurant owner's problem: they are incredibly busy. They don't have time to manually type hundreds of dishes into a CMS, and they definitely don't have the budget for professional food photography for every item. I wanted to bridge that gap. My goal was to create a tool where a non-tech owner could simply drag and drop the PDF they already have, and get a fully interactive, "UberEats-style" web app in return—populated with AI-generated photos and translations automatically. I’m launching the MVP today to test if the AI workflow feels magical enough for real-world usage.
