I'm Luminita, CEO of Lightning Assist.

We started building this app 3 years ago, and it’s finally ready! Lightning Assist has a simple goal: help people spend less time on repetitive typing and more time doing work that actually matters whether that’s serving customers, building products, supporting a team, coding, doing marketing, or simply writing anything.

What Lightning Assist does:

– Text expansions / resources (we refer to snippets as resources): Turn key identifiers into full templates, emails, replies, or code blocks, anything triggered by a custom hotkey.

– Push-to-talk voice-to-text: Hold the AI Speech hotkey, speak, and release it to instantly insert your spoken words into any app.

– AI edits: Select text, trigger the AI Commands or AI Enhance hotkeys, and instantly build, rewrite, improve, shorten, expand, translate, or adjust the meaning of text or code.

– Suggest Resources: Users can suggest new resources for the entire Lightning Assist community or browse existing examples.

– Teams & companies: Work in a team by sharing resources with team members, or join a company to share teams and resources across the organization.

– Dynamic resources: Use replacements to create dynamic, reusable resources.

Privacy-first by design

We value user privacy. That’s why everything is encrypted, and we do not store any spoken content. Only the final transcribed text may be stored, and users can opt out of this as well in the Settings page. We also do not record or store anything users type in a database. Instead, Lightning Assist uses explicit triggers to match the associated resource. This is why the app does not work “as you type” to avoid unintended matches and ensure accurate resource activation.

For example, if one resource uses the key identifier emailmkt and another uses email, an as-you-type approach could cause conflicts. Typing emailmkt would immediately match email, preventing the correct resource from being triggered. Explicit triggers avoid this issue, allowing you to manage more resources reliably without conflicts.
