Hey Product Hunt!

I'm the solo developer behind Embargo, and this is a surprisingly personal launch for me.

This app started from a difficult period in my life. About two and a half years ago, I was laid off and struggled with burnout for a long time.

Scrolling through social media made it worse. Seeing everyone else's highlight reels made my own daily life feel small and insignificant. I wanted to find a way to look at my ordinary, messy days differently.

That's when I thought about reframing mundane moments as breaking news. It was a simple shift in perspective, but treating my daily struggles as serious headlines actually made them feel fun and significant. It was the first time in a long while that I felt motivated to build something again.

I created Embargo to push back against the pressure of perfection on social media. I wanted to show that everyday moments—like a quiet coffee or a missed bus—deserve attention too.

Embargo turns your short journal entries into high-quality parody news articles. You can choose from various tones like satirical, serious, or tabloid to suit your mood.

I hope this app can bring a fresh perspective to your daily life, just as it did for mine.
