EchoWrite is a Windows background service that records audio and inserts transcriptions directly into any active application. It uses OpenAI Whisper for high-accuracy transcription and GPT for translation or custom text processing via global shortcuts. The tool simulates clipboard and key presses to work in any software like Word, Notepad, browsers or IDE.

Hey everyone! I built EchoWrite for myself because I use a lot of AI tools that require long, detailed prompts, and typing them manually was becoming a massive bottleneck. Speaking is simply faster, but the problem is that most applications—like Word, Notepad, or email clients—don't have native speech-to-text. Even when they do, like Google's Antigravity, they often have frustrating limits (like a 2-minute cap), which is useless for long-form thoughts. I needed a solution that works everywhere on my PC. EchoWrite runs as a Windows background service and uses global keyboard hooks to record and paste text directly into whatever app you’re using. As a native French speaker, I also added a translation feature so I can dictate in French and have it paste perfect English into global communities. Plus, the custom prompts let me reformat or summarize text on the fly using GPT-5. It’s available now and you can easily try it for free with the trial mode. Let me know what you think!
