The problem
When we moved to Switzerland π¨π, we started learning German on our own. Like many learners, we used popular tools to build vocabulary and learn grammar. That worked well. But when we spoke, we quickly realized that understanding a language does not mean being understood. Pronunciation was the missing piece.
Why existing solutions donβt work
Most language apps focus on reading, listening, and grammar. Pronunciation is often reduced to a score or a vague βgoodβ or βbadβ label, without explaining what went wrong or how to fix it. Affordable tools that give clear, actionable pronunciation feedback are rare.
The solution
We built Spelly π
Spelly focuses on pronunciation mastery using state-of-the-art deep learning models for phoneme-level speech analysis. It detects articulation errors with high precision and provides intuitive feedback that shows the user how to adjust tongue and lip positioning π.
With the Learning Path functionality, learners choose their level when they start, then follow guided lessons that improve sounds, words, rhythm, and intonation step by step. Progress is tracked over time with clear metrics, streaks help build consistency, and community features allow users to compare stats with friends.
Social proof
Spelly is already used by learners in over 30 countries π, supported by an active community that stays motivated through streaks and shared progress.
