I spent three years building this app.. not just the code, but the hope behind it. It started as a dating app. Not the swipe, not the guessing, not the mind games… something real. Something where two people could meet because they already cared about the same thing. The idea was simple: Let shared experiences be the ice breaker. Let interests start the story, not profiles. Two movie tickets? Post it on Dibs. A wedding coming up and you don’t want to go alone? Post it. A long drive or a motorcycle ride and wishing someone could share that moment with you? Post it. But it didn’t land the way I hoped. After dozens of demos and honest conversations, I realized how heavy the word “dating app” truly is. People wanted connection, but not the pressure or stigma attached to dating platforms. And then Apple rejected the app for being just another dating app. I won’t lie.. it hurt. I had to delete everything I built and start again. But sometimes the version you throw away makes space for the version you were meant to build. The New Beginning - DiBS So I rebuilt Dibs with a totally new heart. Not a dating app. Not a networking app. Not a meetup clone. Just a simple way for people to create moments.... the kind we’re all secretly craving. On Dibs, anyone can host an event, and others can “call dibs” to join. You decide who to welcome in. No pressure. No awkwardness. It’s for the people who are: • New in a city and hoping to make friends • Holding extra tickets and wishing someone could join • Traveling and wanting company • Looking for a casual movie buddy or a simple human moment • Wanting to host workshops or charity events • Gathering friends for birthdays, dinners, game nights Because life feels different when you don’t have to do everything alone.
