I’m a professional video editor and have worked with some of the best content marketers in the industry. Over time, I started noticing patterns in how short-form videos are edited - caption styles, B-roll placements, zoom effects, and entity references that are used repeatedly. I realized that many of these tasks are highly repetitive but require expertise and time. That’s why I decided to build a solution to automate video editing intelligently, so creators can produce videos easily without spending too much money or time. While working with those content marketers I learnt the best editing practices and design guidelines for social media to make the videos perfect and effective, all which I've implemented in Filmate! All the "AI" video editors out there don’t care about you, your industry, or your content. They let you to pick from a generic set of styles or ask you how to edit, assuming you know what works best -- even though most users aren’t video editors and don’t have the knowledge to make those choices. This defeats the whole purpose of AI and automation. Additionally, instead of prioritizing your own B-roll footage, they rely on third-party stock video providers, where over 90% of B-rolls are poorly matched to the content. None of the existing AI editors have true entity recognition — they don’t understand people, places, organizations, numbers, or quotes in your video. The same applies to many traditional video editors: they apply fonts, colors, and effects without understanding the reason behind them. Sure, good editors exist, but they often charge $1,000 and take days to deliver. Filmate is different. It understands the content and makes every choice intentionally — from selecting the right fonts and styles to prioritizing your own B-roll footage. It automates the entire editing process in a way that makes sense for your niche and content goals. Soon, it will be able to handle all kinds of videos and become the new standard for effortless, smart video editing.
