Prevents AI from modifying protected files in VS Code/Cursor

AI coding tools can overwrite configs or modify critical templates and tests. Unlike cursorignore, which removes files from the AI’s context entirely, Lockor protects your files while keeping them fully accessible to the AI and is 100% free and open source!

Hey, thanks for checking out Lockor! Wanted to offer a quick explanation of why I built this and what makes it different. I built Lockor because I witnessed firsthand how AI coding assistants, while incredibly powerful, can accidentally destroy codebases during coding sessions. The Replit incident where AI deleted an entire production database despite explicit instructions was a wake-up call. I realized developers needed a safety net to protect their most critical files from even the most helpful AI assistants. And no matter what I tried... the standard Cursor rules options were insufficient. What makes this different is that Lockor is designed for both humans and AI to work seamlessly inside your IDE. While cursor rules and other AI guidance can and often is ignored by AI agents or particular models, this library offers many different ways to lock down files until you find the right combination that your system or model will listen to and respect. It comes with some default settings out of the gate which work on most of the standard cursor models in auto mode in the top offerings on the market today. I haven't launched anything on Product Hunt in a long time, so I'm excited to share this open source project with others.
