Tulika Kidambi
Hi everyone! I’m so excited to share 1.org with this community. The inspiration came from a simple realization: every day, billions of us perform billions of searches. This creates an incredible amount of value for search engines, yet most of that value stays within big tech. What if we could redirect even a small fraction of that 'search energy' toward solving the world’s biggest problems? Most people want to give back, but life gets in the way. Whether it’s a lack of extra funds or just a lack of time, the 'intention-action gap' in charitable giving is huge. We wanted to build a solution that didn't require anyone to change their budget or their daily routine. We didn't want to limit users to just one cause. Whether you’re passionate about animal welfare, cancer research, or disaster relief, 1.org lets you choose where the ad revenue from your searches goes. We’ve also focused heavily on making the experience feel rewarding with features like Heart Rewards and Impact Streaks because doing good should feel as good as it looks. To kick things off, we’re actually donating $5 to charity for every person who installs the extension today (up to our $100k goal). I’d love to get your honest feedback on the onboarding flow and the impact dashboard. We’re here to listen and iterate!
