After hearing about Headspace over and over again from friends, and people like Kevin Rose and Sheryl Sandberg in podcasts, I made a commitment to give Headspace a try and make it a habit. I'm a few days in and love it. They really do focus a lot on the initial user experience, in baby steps, to get you to do the right things and make meditation into a consi… See more

Meditation and breathing exercises for geeks

Oak is a community-driven guided meditation and breathing exercise app. Our meditations were built from data gathered in-app as beta testers completed their sessions (or ended them early). This led to hundreds of adjustments in pace, tone, and verbiage. We're geeks: Support for pre/post heart rate tracking (and variability) soon.

Today I'm announcing a new meditation app called Oak. In building Oak, I wanted an app for the self-experimenter, one that would blend technology and meditation in a thoughtful and useful way. It will be a great addition to the many other meditation apps you might be using today.

Headspace has helped me create a good routine and motivates me to continue. I love the variety of options it gives you: whether you like guided or unguided meditations, have 5 or 30 min, it's easy to find smth that works for you personally. Especially great for beginners (like me). Monthly subscription is worth every cent.

For me, the name caught my attention. I started using Calm in 2017 when I came across it's Apple app of the year 2017 promotions. Since then I've been glued to using calm. What hooked me to it is its UI and a wide range of ambient music choices.

Album exclusives are nothing new in the age of Tidal, of course. But Moby's latest is taking a kind of circuitous route to the world's mobile devices. The electronic artist has released his latest, Long Ambients 2, as an exclusive through the Calm meditation app. The album dropped over the we...

Android/iOS: Mindfulness has become a bit of a buzzword lately, but what it essentially comes down to is being present and focused. For some of us, this takes effort, and Zenify can help you work on it. People are often skeptical of mindfulness and meditation, writing it off as a touchy-feely, New Age principle.

I've been using Insight Timer for quite some time - pretty good free alternative, great content, different techniques. I'd recommend this for non-beginners though, as the different options can be a bit overwhelming when you first start.
