It takes a bit to get used to the writing style but once you do you'll really start to enjoy it. Maybe you read the cliff notes in 8th grade? It's worth actually reading the book as there are beautifully rendered scenes that can only be experienced by reading it in full.

This is probably not what you think it is. Central to the readability and pace of the book is how it centers around what could be considered the great — although perhaps not direct — antagonist of the Impressionist movement. King’s writing will keep you engaged throughout the book and you’ll learn a great deal too.
