As the old saying goes, āCouples who invest together stay together,ā or something like that. When two people become one, so do their finances often. Spending decisions become a shared exercise, and finances are planned around āmine, yours, and ours.ā
Plenty is a wealth management platform founded by ex-fintech employees and married couple Channing Allen and Emily Luk. Itās designed to help modern couples discuss, manage, and invest their money together, and the team recently raised $5 million in seed funding from Inovia Capital and others.Ā
According to Emily Luk, Plenty started initially with frustration borne out of their own experience trying to plan for their future: āWe discovered how broken the financial industry is for couples who simply want to work together, for people who arenāt financial experts, and for those early on in their wealth-building journeys.ā
Hereās how it works: You can sign up as an individual or a couple. From there, you will be asked to connect your financial accounts. You can then mark different accounts as yours, theirs, and ours while making some shared and others private. Once youāre ready, you can start investing with as little as $100 in a managed portfolio where you can earn 5.08% APY.Ā
As your account grows, Plenty will track your financial well-being and give you insights into your month-to-month spending, saving, and earning trends. It comes with automated forecasting, and you can set up shared goals ā like a once-in-a-lifetime vacation or finally updating that old kitchen ā and see how long and how much it will take to achieve them.Ā

The case where Llama 3 beats GPT-4
Nearly one month ago, Meta released Llama 3, claiming it's āThe most capable openly available LLM to date.ā So how did the model actually stack up?
Kyle Corbitt, the founder of OpenPipe, shared his experience with Llama 3 on the Product Hunt blog. Corbitt was previously a Director at YC working on Startup School and has worked as an engineer at YC, Google, and Facebook.
In working with the 8B and 70B parameter models, Corbitt found that the fine-tuned Llama 3 8B performs similarly to fine-tuned Mixtral 8x7B, which can outperform a fine-tuned GPT-4.
The bottom line? āYou can serve a fine-tuned model that outperforms GPT-4 for 1/50th the cost.ā
