Email Otter is the tool I'm building that has already cut down my newsletter production from 3+ hours to less than 1. It turns static HTML email templates (like these) into reusable drag and drop email components.

Editing HTML templates can be a real nightmare! I got sick of putting aside half a day (or an entire day with a hangover 🍺) for creating the weekly newsletter for prototypr.io. I can imagine some of you feel the same - I couldn't find any tool to easily edit HTML templates the way I wanted - so I made my own.

What it does

Email otter takes care of all the mundane tasks of editing HTML emails:

- Turn your HTML template into reusable modules

- Automatically pull in the title, image and description for your links

- Crop and compress images automatically - no more image editing tools needed!

A bit on how it works

Convert your own templates

To start with Email Otter, you need to get hold of an HTML email template - you can find them all over the web. Then there's a simple process to separate your template into HTML segments that are readable by the Otter (soon there'll be a tool for conversion).

Use templates from the Otter library

Email Otter will come with a library of readily usable email templates and modules that you can use and combine to build your newsletters.

Also, you may have (not) noticed the name change. The app was previously called 'Tamarin Templates' since it made use of the 'handlebars' templating system (and emperor monkeys have moustaches).

I didn't like that name in the end, and otters are cool, so now we have Email Otter 😃
