We've seen a ton of apps focused on calorie counting and diet routines but far fewer on this topic. Curious to hear from others' experience fasting for health/dietary reasons. 😊

@rrhoover I've been doing 20/4 or 22/2 fasts (fasting period/feeding period) pretty often, 36 hour fasts pretty much every week, and two 84 hour fasts (Monday night to Friday morning). It's been great. Clean, clear headed, and I like how my body feels not being require to process food. I'd be happy to chat more about it, as well. Let me know!

@rrhoover fasting is super healthy, I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes one of the dietary trends in 2017 http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/08/he...

@rrhoover over 2016 I've lost (and kept off) 15 pounds (7kg) with the 5:2 diet. http://5typos.net/update-on-52-diet Over the past couple of months I've relaxed the restricted calories days a bit, and moved more to skipping breakfast and drinking a Soylent2.0 for lunch whenever I go overboard on a meal (2-3 times a week). It has worked surprisingly well. I'v… See more

@rrhoover Well, I fast 2 times a year for 25 hours (no water no food) and I can say that the feeling after a fast is amazing. Feeling light, more energetic and more concentrated.

@rrhoover I love that there is always a different perspective, and that each new perspective can yield a new product. That said, I thought "fasting" was just another word for "sleeping." #breakfast

@rrhoover I started an 18/6 fasting protocol (Leangains) 4-5 years ago, and at one point got into the best shape of my life (combined with proper diet and exercise, of course). When I was working a full-time job, I found it really easy to adhere to, but I dropped the ball pretty hard a few years ago when I became self-employed. As per a few other comments, … See more

@rmateu Do not skip the breakfast unless you fast for the whole day. Skipping bf can not be considered as fasting. This will have a long-term negative impact. Note: I am not a nutritionist.. @rrhoover

@rrhoover I have one more point, in addition to below comments. Cancer cells are dysfunctional mitochondria. Everybody has these dysfunctional cells in the body in different levels. During fasting, these dysfunctional cells are getting starved and reduced due to lack of feeder nutrients. So regular fasting makes these dysfunctional cells to struggle for nutr… See more

@arielassaraf @rrhoover I also fast on those days, and by the end I am faint and weak, and even once I've eaten it takes me hours to recover. I am blown away by people's need to find insane new fads. Just eat people!! For goodness sake.

@rrhoover I do 16/8 (fasting/feeding) but it takes time to adjust. If you're not used to 16/8, you will break out a lot as you're throwing off your hormonal levels. After the adjustment period, your hunger is pretty much controlled by yourself and is an effective way to keep body fat % lower while building muscle (though at a much slower rate). Though I wil… See more

@rrhoover This year Nobel prize was related to Autophagy, a fundamental process for degrading and recycling cellular components. This is nothing but fasting. In Indian traditions fasting for a day in a fortnight is practiced. Same is revisited and explained by the Nobel prize winner. It is built into the lifestyle. This link might add further value to the a… See more
