Thanks for the post @tdavidson! Some background on why we built this: We built White Label after seeing brands/festivals needing a new way of reaching/retaining fans. None of the current methods (email/social media) provide much value to the customer, whereas a curated music app that releases recurring mixtapes helps build brand loyalty and offers a new way to engage your customers. We have been able to consistently build a fanbase for 3 years with Noon Pacific using this method, so we want to provide that platform and best practices to other brands/curators.

Very cool. It would be fun to have my own personal music app and I can see this being useful for music influencers/artists. Apparently Color Myx is built with this.

@rrhoover Definitely — let's get you an app! I'm excited for the day an artist drops their album on their own app then keeps all the fans engaged throughout the year with recurring mixtapes... Thanks for checking it out!

This is awesome! Any plans on adding YouTube integration?

@marketplicity We'll see as we start gather some feedback. Soundcloud's API terms of service don't allow us to "mix" services together so it would have to be a Youtube-only app.

@cdinnison cool - would love to get on board if and when you support YouTube. I started a live music blog and YouTube is *the* place for live music.

Dope! As someone who makes quarterly mixtapes for friends, this appeals deeply to me. If only i had a monetization strategy ;)

@ryantomorrow You'd be surprised at what point brands want to start sponsoring mixtapes, as long as the curation is aligned with what they're trying to do. There's an ecommerce component built into White Label that allows you to pair a product with any mixtape or you could make affiliate money from ticket sales on each track...

Been following Clark and his team for awhile, congrats on the release! 2 questions - If you have existing playlist on Soundcloud, does the app import them? What is considered an API call? Every interaction on the app, or something like, when the app is loaded it hits your server to get playlist information, but after that since all the playlist are soundcloud/spotify it's directly communicating with them?

@bu_vinny White Label currently does not offer SoundCloud playlist import, however we promise it's incredibly easy and quick to add single tracks! Our API pricing only applies to White Label, so you've got the right idea – loading collection/mixtape/track information from WL will cost, but interacting with SoundCloud to stream the audio is free (we don't control those APIs). Plus, we do not charge for logging of Play events.
