I listened to several meditations last night as I was trying to fall asleep. Sam has perfect tone and pacing my o create a meditative headspace. His many years of personal experience really shine through.
Although I have practiced hatha yoga for about 20 years I never got deep into the still forms of meditation-I have long found the meditative within movement.
Yet, I have several Buddhist friends and have always admired their calm collected and deeply still presence.
Following this feeling of respect coupled with my innate curiosity of all things spiritual and the Waking Up podcast (my highest patreon sponsorship goes to it and if you know anything about me you know that's saying something!) I have been using Insight Timer for a few years now. I have listened to quite a few guided meditations over that time. I am on day 23of Sam's guided meditation and really appreciate the way he can drill down to the essence of being just an observer. "Just experience the raw data" without trying to understand or process or label. I have found that even though I have a few years under my belt his lessons and guided meditations are still immensely valuable and have helped me go further in my practice.Pros:

Sam’s careful construction of this app was well worth the wait. What you find here are not only carefully organised meditations but valuable mini lectures on existence itself and how to figure that out for yourself. I already went through the 12 lessons he posted and Day 1 of the meditation. I encourage you to make this app a guide in investigating your mind.Pros:

I call this intellectual meditation. Meditation never worked for me, for years, because it didn’t engage me enough in the right places of the mind. Sam does that with his interesting and brilliant logic and speech. His voice is soothing to begin with, but just hearing him describe the human experience in intellectually stimulating and sensory ways is true meditation in itself. I have finally found it.Pros:

I am so grateful for this app. I was raised in a small Mennonite community and struggled with breaking free from religion for many years.
