Working from anywhere

The why it matters part ist the most important one... Without Sam I still would've been constantly lost in my thoughts and very likely would have missed most of my life. Sounds very dramatic, but it's just true.

So.. for anyone who is trying to figure out what the hell is going on in your mind - just download the app and take it from there. It will make thing much clearer.

Pros:

Just the perfect way to get into meditation and understanding why it matters

Cons:

None. Just took a whole while to get out ;)

I listened to several meditations last night as I was trying to fall asleep. Sam has perfect tone and pacing my o create a meditative headspace. His many years of personal experience really shine through.

Although I have practiced hatha yoga for about 20 years I never got deep into the still forms of meditation-I have long found the meditative within movement.

Yet, I have several Buddhist friends and have always admired their calm collected and deeply still presence.

Following this feeling of respect coupled with my innate curiosity of all things spiritual and the Waking Up podcast (my highest patreon sponsorship goes to it and if you know anything about me you know that's saying something!) I was thrilled to be given the opportunity explore with an invitation to download the app for free.

Thanks @samharrisofficial! I would have paid for it, but these little things mean so much!

To summize-This is a great product. I recommend it highly for new to advanced meditators and the meditative-curious.

I have been using Insight Timer for a few years now. I have listened to quite a few guided meditations over that time. I am on day 23of Sam's guided meditation and really appreciate the way he can drill down to the essence of being just an observer. "Just experience the raw data" without trying to understand or process or label. I have found that even though I have a few years under my belt his lessons and guided meditations are still immensely valuable and have helped me go further in my practice.

Pros:

Insightful, a good guide to dropping back into consciousness without the woo woo.

Cons:

Wish it had come out sooner. 😆

Sam’s careful construction of this app was well worth the wait. What you find here are not only carefully organised meditations but valuable mini lectures on existence itself and how to figure that out for yourself. I already went through the 12 lessons he posted and Day 1 of the meditation. I encourage you to make this app a guide in investigating your mind.

Pros:

Very intuitive interface. Sam’s voice Is perfect in the guided meditations And the supplemental lessons are a wonderful.

Cons:

Too soon to tell. They’ll have to anticipate the wide audience hits which is why i’m downloading 10 of the meditations right away.

Content producer is has good knowledge of the topic he is teaching.

Pros:

Simple. Has good content

Cons:

I've been using it since the TestFlight beta and it's great

A phenomenal start - can't wait to see where this gets to.

Pros:

Life-changing content - especially love the lessons.

Cons:

The microphone or pitch of voice used is quite different in diff segments - meaning you need to adjust volume.

Teacher who needs meditation

So long as it performs when purchased it will be an excellent potable tool

I call this intellectual meditation. Meditation never worked for me, for years, because it didn’t engage me enough in the right places of the mind. Sam does that with his interesting and brilliant logic and speech. His voice is soothing to begin with, but just hearing him describe the human experience in intellectually stimulating and sensory ways is true meditation in itself. I have finally found it.

Pros:

Meditation for intellectuals

Cons:

None

Athiest/free thinker/skeptic/

I have been following Sam for years. I have the 4 horseman DVD, have read, listened to and watched many things Sam has done.

Pros:

It is consistent. There is no metaphysics. It allows me time to get it. I just finished day 62 in a row of Waking up + the practice guides.

Cons:

Not that I am aware. I have been taking a philosophy class for 2+ decades Find no discrepancy in these two practices

If you can stick with it, this app can profoundly change you your mind

Pros:

Very comprehensive sessions of meditation.

Cons:

None

I am so grateful for this app. I was raised in a small Mennonite community and struggled with breaking free from religion for many years. I have read some of Sam’s books (which have helped me through my journey) and now this app his helping me continue my process of growth in such a big way WITHOUT religious dogma. Thank you.

Pros:

The clear and concise way Sam discusses why meditation is good for your psychological state.

Cons:

I would love for new lessons to be released more often.
