This seems a bit similar in nature to Waverly Labs Pilot, but I couldn't understand how exactly Travis is operated (even after browsing the landing page and watching the video). Does it has a microphone and a loudspeaker? Assuming I got the operation mode right, I also couldn't understand what kind of the technology is behind Travis (the one powering speech recognition, machine translation, and speech synthesis) and where it comes from.

@double_u_d Difference between Travis and Waverly Labs Pilot is that Travis is not limited for when it comes to translating conversations. With Travis you can have a conversation with more than two people, because of the built-in sensitive microphone and loud speaker. For the backend, we use 8 translating engines combined with each other in order to get the most accurate translation as possible. Besides that when someone is speaking with an accent and / or with grammar/spelling errors, the device will be using AI to recognize patterns in the speech and translate it.

What makes this so different from the powerful Microsoft and Google apps?

@nerdybff Good question! The benefits over Microsoft and Google are the following: 1. One-touch-action, no need to keep unlocking your phone and swiping to the right app 2. No text messages or other apps that will disrupt the conversation while translating, while this is the case when you have a smartphone. 3. Loud speakers and sensitive mic 4. 12 hour battery life - translation apps kill your phone battery soon 5. Safety — No need to pull your expensive smartphone out in when you’re traveling 6. It’s compatible with ear phones and blue-tooth 7. Offline translation
