@harrystebbings who is your favorite character from this book, and why?
Most of the characters are so compromised (by history, by status, by ambition), that it can be difficult to connect with them. I recall from my reading of this that Roy's prose and narrative skill knit it all together so powerfully that you can't help but empathize - even with, say, Comrade Pillai!
