Wow! Just Wow! The cost of owning a Tesla (or just about anything) is so complicated. The video is really, really interesting and useful to understand how to understand the cost of stuff.

Owning a Tesla is really unlike owning any other car. As far as driving experience is concerned, it's like having a personal spaceship that drives itself. F--- awesome! Their service is super helpful and friendly, and you never have to wait. Also, if you're wondering if you'd ever run out of range and be stranded on the highway, no, it's not gonna happen. Most of the time you're going to have plenty of "fuel" left over, and even if you go really far and forget to supercharge, the car will remind you to find a nearby charger. As far as the costs, it can get pricey, but you'd know exactly what it is up-front as you sign the paperwork at the sales center. Cost of charging is really negligible. It's about $1 per 250mil of range. The only cost you are probably unaware of is the cost of installing the charger ($500 device), which a good electrician will charge you between 750 and 1200 for. It's one time, suck it up, or get a license and do it yourself. The city would want to make sure you did it correctly. The price of ownership is obvious, will be in your paperwork, and it's not substantially higher than owning another luxury vehicle. Depends on where you live there are city/state discounts that can get your overall price down more. And anyway, what's the price of safety? If you're planning on getting a Tesla, and want to discount your car even further, get free supercharging for life and save a $1,000, just use my code to reserve your car. p.s. Did you know the "charger" is actually on board of your vehicle and the device that costs $500 + installation costs is really just a fancy circuit breaker? Your charging device inside the car is basically a current converter that will take house AC and change it to DC for the battery. That's why supercharging is fast, they are able to push DC directly to your battery and bypass any conversion.

Oh, and one more thing. Don't buy the full self-driving to start. It's not yet available. anyway. Once Tesla figured it out and early users got all the kinks out of the system, then pay the money. Why pay $3,000 today if you can wait for a year?
