Great stuff, could be useful for my livecoding sessions

@karimjdda Super cool idea!

Skype taking on Intercom, Zendesk, and other support tools with this move. When will Slack do the same? 🤔 There are already a few Slack-integrated apps to embed a channel into a site.
Alex @tpbtv
@rrhoover to be honest, I don't know why they haven't already :(
Jevin Sew@jevinsew · Rails / iOS developer
@rrhoover yeah Slack's priorities are weird to me
Hassan May Riggs@hassanriggs · Founder, Smart Alto
@rrhoover Most founders I know use Intercom. We need more innovation in this space.
Nik Sudan@niksudan · Game & Systems Developer
@rrhoover I reckon it'll only be a matter of time before we see this feature for Messenger, Slack, and other popular messaging services. It'll be the new stories!
Felipe Rohde@felipe_rohde
@hassanriggs innovation like?
Rene Brandel@renebrandel · Program Manager, Microsoft Skype
@felipe_rohde @hassanriggs Follow me and I'll keep you up to date in the upcoming weeks ;-)
Buster@buster · PM, Slack
@rrhoover Regarding Slack... syndicating channels isn't a feature that has obvious work-related applications. There are issues around security as well (people in the channel should know if their messages are being embedded somewhere else), so it would need to have sophisticated permission checking and considerations for fallbacks, it would need to update in … See more

@buster as always, very thoughtful response. While I'm not privy to your internal strategy, it seems to be focused on team communication (with a strong expansion into the enterprise) vs. external communication (e.g. customer support, broadcasting announcements). Slack as a huge market and while big, long way to go to complete the mission of the former.
Christian Grobmeier@grobmeier · Software Guy. Grobmeier Solutions.
@rrhoover Except Skype requires users to login before they can text me. Which is a bit sad.
Masoud Ardestani@masoudardestani · Co Founder @Rydite
@hassanriggs what about Drift. They ain't too bad.
Rene Brandel@renebrandel · Program Manager, Microsoft Skype
@grobmeier @rrhoover True. only if you're using it with a Skype user. Some people like to use a Skype bot that forwards the messages into team comms clients like Slack or Microsoft Teams. This way you don't have to sign in to start a chat.
Josiah@josiahtullis · designer, entrepreneur
Consider this + the Microsoft Bot Framework and you can see why Skype has become so attractive to developers. https://dev.botframework.com/
Joe Goldstein@joeadamg · Operations Director, Navolutions
Dang, this would be great if it didn't make users sign in before chatting, if the recipient is a user instead of a bot.
Alain Ekambi@ekambos · Founder @ahomeit
@joeadamg we thought so too and are working on something in that direction :) https://www.dklo.co
Rene Brandel@renebrandel · Program Manager, Microsoft Skype
@joeadamg This currently a limitation because we don't want users to be spammed.
Christian Grobmeier@grobmeier · Software Guy. Grobmeier Solutions.
@renebrandel @joeadamg Why don't you let the user decide on this? Intercom, Drift, and so on, they all think there are other solutions than forcing a potential customer to login. Just saying- i would prefer using Skype (which I use daily) instead of another messaging app.
Rene Brandel@renebrandel · Program Manager, Microsoft Skype
@grobmeier @joeadamg That's a very good point and I'll follow-up on this. Mind that this is our 1st version and feedback like this will keep improving our products! Thanks

This is cool! But you know what's not cool? Not letting the existing users delete their Skype accounts! I know Skype is now a part of Microsoft account, but it was a terrible thing you did! You forced it on the users without even letting them know about the integration. I was a Skype user since its inception! Recently stopped using it, as MS turned it into … See more

@karthikeyankc Hello. Skype does allow you to delete your account. Here's our customer support page with the instructions: https://support.skype.com/en/faq... Your feedback matters! Please send submit your feedback and the respective team will look into it. Here's how: https://support.skype.com/en/faq...
Karthikeyan KC@karthikeyankc · Creator of Swyde and Geekswipe
@renebrandel Hello! :) In case you didn't know it before, the links on those pages are to delete and close Microsoft account! Not Skype! You're just doing that copy paste thing what your support people do at answers.microsoft.com! Hope you can understand how annoying this is! About that feedback part, the feedback app, another horrendously designed applica… See more

I'm torn between this, Intercom and Messenger.
