What do people think of Silo?
I think that Silo is the evolution of Linkedin. Focused on human interactions around business needs. Members vote up and down to promote and keep spam out and maintain productivity and effective use of time which is key to having high quality and cooperative members. It feels intimate yet huge at the same time. Every ask gets quick relevant and productive responses in a very short time.
It is rare to find a platform which combines so many other goodies from similar services such as Linkedin and social networks. Silo is very unique as it is community of communities which leverages professionals expertise and experience to help each other, grow their network and basically to help others to succeed, learn from example, avoid same mistakes, support others in their early stage or in a switch in career.
The app runs on many OS and devices, constantly improves and very usable.
Users can join specific communities/groups in which they can provide their experience and answer questions or give advice. You can find different groups for geographies, alumni, entrepreneurs, venture capital, hiring mgrs etc.
There are many profiles and professions represented, not necessarily limited to high tech. The more people answer and help others, they are ranked higher. i recommend trying it yourself for sometime and be active as possible, this way you will get most out of it.
This app brings together a large diverse group of entrepreneurs, service providers and execs from big tech companies. It is far and away the most sincere professional network out there- everyone genuinely wants to assist and very few are simply selling. I use it to supplement LinkedIn, not instead of, but I can imagine a day where Silo is my go-to professional app. I am on Silo at least once a day, sometimes more.
I use Silo for almost 2 years now, have published many "Asks" and got help in many fronts. I also try to help people with their needs, so Karma!
