Thanks for permitting me to reply, Ross. I actually didn't copy DBM, this is honestly a dumb-luck situation where we both launched our services around the same time (early March). I hadn't heard about DBM until the first blog article on them started to go viral last week.
You can imagine my shock when I discovered someone else had the same dumb idea around the same time I did ha. Like they say, ideas are everywhere -- it's about execution. I do agree with your remark, engineering Reddit to initiate the virality and blog frenzy was excellent execution on his part.
While a number of blogs have covered my company, most of our growth has been via social media word-of-mouth. We launched in time for SXSW here in Austin, and for 2 weeks handed out bags of gummy dicks noting our website. People thought it was hilarious and posted on Facebook/Twitter/Instagram.
In the end who knows what this actually is -- a flash sale or a longterm business -- but for the meantime I'm just happy fulfilling orders and making people laugh.
