Needed int'l travel insurance for a big trip I was taking. Put it off way too long and was stressed, but safetywing made it really easy to buy and get proof of insurance right away. Easy easy! Their nomad alerts travel guide is an awesome newsletter to follow too.

Review of Safety Wing
I HAVE FILED A CLAIM with SAFETY WING/ WORLD TRIPS/TOKIO MARINE (all the same company) and what they did - they only found unreasonable excuses not to pay me! I got hospitalised in Thailand with Spontaneous Pneumothorax, the doctors told me its regular INSURED EMERGENCY CASE! MAP from Safety Wings tried to BARGAIN the hospital for too long NOT TO PAY THE FULL PRICE OF MY TREATMENT, so I had to pay all bills beforehand by myself because all their bargaining postponed my urgent treatment while I WAS IN A SEVERE PAIN!! The Pakistani guy is their so-called Medical Audit Professional, after my doctor talked to him he said "He is not a doctor, he has no medical knowledge!" By now I still didn't get payed! They offer money to my hospital directly (half price) and now rejecting to pay me anything??? Easy target! Just find a stupid excuses, no need to pay! PLEASE NEVER TRYST THIS COMPANY! THET ARE FRAUDS NOT THE INSURANCE COMPANY!

I am with SafetyWings pretty much since day one. And even if claim handling is very time consuming and communication pretty often a pain in the ass I supported the idea of the product. But today I found out about the biggest lack in their policy which makes it a total no go. As one might know you need to renew your policy once a year - means each policy is valid for max 12 months. I thought this is just to adjust the monthly rates based on once ages but this is not the idea behind it. The reason for the yearly renewal is that this is how they try to avoid to pay for longer treatment or expensive claims. Imagine the following: You will have a bigger accident in month 11 of your 12 months membership. Initial hospital treatment will be covered by SafetyWing. But the hospital is scheduling your necessary surgery in months 13 (or to be more detailed in month 1 after the renewal of your policy). And imagine the treatment is a bit more complicated and expensive and the injury will need another 6 months to heal. In this case SafetyWing will pay exactly NIL, ZERO, NOTHING. Why? Because the renewal of your policy is considered as a NEW policy under their fine print and the accident that happened in your OLD policy is excluded from the new one as it is a "pre-existing condition". Imagine the situation that you have a longer treatment let's say because of a serious illness like cancer. They will stop their payments the day your original policy will expire and there is nothing you can do against it.

SafetyWing sounds like a great plan but in reality they are just a corporate trick that never work. It works well if you never have any procedures with them, because once the procedure is expensive or not to their liking, they will just deny the reimbursement. There is nothing unique about them, and we do not recommend them.

Although they make it easy to sign up, that stops there, the service is basically a scam, good luck getting any money back for healthcare costs incurred abroad. Their claim process is extremely difficult and you will never get your money back. Please investigate this scam company.

Worst insurance ever - IT IS ALL A LIE!

I have had SafetyWing insurance for over two years under the impression that it’s a great traveling insurance for nomads at a great cost. Yet now I’ve noticed when I’ve had an emergency, all they do is decline your claims even if you’re in the emergency room of a hospital and need dire care. All their response team says is to pay and I will get reimbursed, yet when I first got the insurance they said that you can get a guarantee of payment through the insurance or they can bill directly with the hospital if it’s an emergency situation and they have all the proper paperwork - that has all been a lie. My claims from the emergency room have been declined and they say they will reimburse me. The purpose of having insurance is in case of an emergency, if you do not have the funds, the insurance will take care of you and you are taken care of and receive the medical care needed. I am opening up a lawsuit in america with them under false pretenses and have canceled my insurance and gotten new insurance through a provider that actually cares about their insured. I am extremely disappointed and cannot warn people enough about this scam of a insurance that I’ve spent two years paying for nothing!

SafetWing is offered by our remote only company, and we've been using it for 2 years now approximately. I have to say it's pretty convenient to be able to get a refund from anywhere in the world, didn't get a chance to test in more urgent situation though! Their request form could be improved, with claims that are being filled every month, I have to copy/paste the same information over and over again... The claim takes some time to get processed, but it is, without having to worry about translations, so that's great! Overall good product for a remote worker.

I've been using SafetyWing for almost 2 years now and it's been a must-have as a digital nomad. I use the Remote Health Premium plan and it's been a game changer for paying for chiropractors, dentists, etc. throughout the world!

I remember the first several times I was doing claims and now - there's a huge improvement in UX. It's much more intuitive and quicker to complete. Feels like you need to fill in less information and only the important one. I like that you can easily follow claim progress, get updates via email. Support is also fast to reply.

My experience with SafetyWing has always been positive. Their customer support is 100/10 and the cost-benefit is fantastic! My partner and I are travelers and we always use SatetyWing when abroad. Totally recommended.
