Hey all. I created Productive because I couldn't find a decent habit tracker that would let me organize my day. Most apps jumble all your habits into one big list for each day - I found that this long list was too much to mentally process, plus thinking about all the things left to do each day was leaving me stressed out.
Productive solves this by letting you schedule habits for different times of the day (i.e. morning / afternoon / evening), and thus lets you focus on just the things due right now. It also supports doing things more than once a day (e.g. floss in the morning & evening). These features allow you to create little routines throughout your day that the beta testers found were a lot easier to stick to, as compared to the standard big list.

@radiojai yeah had the same problem. Didn't work in the PH iOS app, but I got it working on the browser.

@radiojai I see the 404 in the PH iOS browser too. Looks like there is a ' at the end of your link. Opening this in Safari worked:

@chrismessina @radiojai Thanks for the help! There is no extra ', but the Product Hunt app thinks there is. Changing the ' to " fixed it. Now it still won't work, but for different reasons (the PH app's browser doesn't allow opening of other apps). I've added instructions on how to get around that. Thanks! :)

Someone emailed me thinking I may have ripped off the app Balanced - I'm actually the developer of both Productive & Balanced :).
As for why I created Productive, rather than merge these features into Balanced - the two apps are actually pretty different in their usage. Productive is a much better app for building habits, whereas Balanced is a much better app for reminding you to do more of the things that make you happy. Even if both were used for habits, they take different approaches (Productive is very strict, Balanced is very laid back - Different things work for different people).
Basically, there was a whole load of stuff that users were asking for in Balanced that I couldn't add to Balanced without breaking it for the people who loved it for what it is. Hence Productive was born.
In terms of effort, Productive took a lot longer to dev than Balanced, even though Productive was able to use a lot of the app framework I created for Balanced.

@radiojai i really liked the idea so much, i will download it and feedback you with the experience of using it. But something just came to my mind and want to share it with you, for example, can you implement the technology of SIRI (speech recognition) - so that the experience will be i say "Walking my do" and then click on the button to indicate 20 mins duration and then you remind us daily with what should i do at this time of the day?

@radiojai Thanks for the upgrade. I've been using Productive for the past six weeks. I was using another app for a couple of years, but there's just something about Productive and the way it shows the streaks that makes it... better. It's just more motivating. I've started telling other people about it.
