Inspiration: We were inspired to create a platform to allow users to submit feature requests directly to their makers. We give the ability for makers to assign a cost estimate and a realistic deadline for funding to reach a goal. Users can then pledge money to get the feature developed. Target Users: Product makers and the customers that use their products. Features: -- Real time live updates of data across the entire site using firebase to keep users engaged. -- End to end integration with Stripe to allow pledges to be charged securely and efficiently. -- Integration with product hunt authentication for single sign on. Demo Usage Notes: Super user login to allow you to assign funds and target dates to features (as if you were a maker). In order to assign fund targets to a feature request you can use the following twitter account to login: Username: pfdemo Password: producthunt In order to make a dummy pledge click the pledge button and enter the following details: Email: Any email Card number: 4242 4242 4242 4242 Expiry: Any date in the future CVC: Any number

@jsharratt Jon, this is awesome. It would be cool if you could use the PH api to email the creators of each app when a pledge is made for a feature. Nice work!

@zackshapiro Yer that is a nice idea, would be good to get in some personalisation for the makers. We can now add support in the future via the the Product Hunt API to do this kind of thing.

@jsharratt Hi Jon, I'm excited to see this hackathon project on here with so many up votes! What's that saying again.. "Great minds think alike!" I'm part of the team that's currently working on "Feature Funder" (http://featurefunder.com) and our goal is very similar. We're working hard to make crowd funding for features a reality! For those who are interested in this, just leave your email on the site and we'll let you know when we're ready. I'll be following this discussion, will be interesting to hear others opinion.

@jsharratt Very thorough! It creates a new dilemma for founders, of course, because the features users want (and might be willing to pay for) aren't always the features you should build. But hey, that's a great problem to have.

@alexisohanian Thanks for the feedback. This is very true, we did talk about that part and it does seem to break the journey. A potential option would be to integrate with Github and Open Source projects instead. Meaning the community can help feedback features they want and the maintainer can get some funding / prioritise those they think they should develop. Then perhaps once this was proven to work open it up to private repositories / Github organisations to fund internal project ideas and innovation. Also means that managers that control budgets can dish out and fund projects that employees feel are worthwhile from the feedback through the site.

I really like this idea, it would be great to have in app type capabilities so builders can focus on the features that really do matter before committing to them
@Anderson760 I like that! I'm just not exactly sure I understand what you mean. How would that work?

@charypar For example, if I wanted to upgrade to a pro version (that isn't built yet). It would list the features that people would potentially get and allow them to crowdfund it. Then once it gets enough money, the feature can be built and released to the people that funded it.
@Anderson760 @charypar Oh I see, nice! Yeah, we could add an API and web/mobile SDKs to list and submit features and pledges.

@jsharratt This is definitely my favorite idea, I wrote this a few months ago in my journal but never came out developing it. Glad you did! I think the site UI/UX could be tweaked a lot more but the concept is great! Sending love through an upvote :)

@raj_ventures @jsharratt Thanks, appreciate the vote! :) yer no doubt the UI/UX could be tweaked a bit. We were a bit up against it to get the core journey done in two days so we ended up just going with react bootstrap and tweaking a theme to our needs.

@jsharratt @raj_ventures Do you need a UI/UX designer? I can help there!

@raj_ventures Thanks for the kind offer, not sure how far we will take it just yet. Originally I entered on my own with this idea to prove I could deliver something over two days. Hoping I may get a chance to pitch my real idea I want to get off the ground to an investor. The Product Fund hack would certainly not be in the wild as it is without the effort and help of two colleagues of mine, Viktor and Albert that's for sure :)
