About

Super handy Chrome Extension that tells me when I'm reading poor / biased / fake news. Even better, it suggests articles that expose me to perspectives I wouldn't otherwise have heard in my algorithmic timelines & echo chambers.

I am a news junkie and like reading news. But in the past few months, I find myself wondering if I am getting the whole picture. This product is helping solve a very big and timely problem - tech marketer, mother, advisor, MIT Sloan board member.

Pros:

I like it provides me with alternative stories and view points that I would have not thought to look at myself.

Cons:

None yet.

This extension makes it easy for me not only to understand the bias and quality of any article I'm currently reading, but also shows me other coverage of the same topic. Makes me feel smarter and more empathetic with every new article I read.

Pros:

Helps me find alternative perspectives on any topic I'm reading about so that I can quickly understand an issue from multiple angles.

Cons:

None so far

I love this product. Download their Chrome extension at www.civikowl.com

Pros:

Instantly provides feedback on the quality of the news I read and suggests the best related articles from both sides of political spectrum

Cons:

None. It gets better everyday.

The Chrome extension helps me assess the quality and bias of news articles and find high-quality articles with alternative perspectives about news that interests. Can't wait to see how the product evolves!

Pros:

Awesome tool! Assesses the bias and quality of news articles and recommends better articles on those topics. Simple, clean unintrusive UI.

Cons:

I wrote a Medium post about my thoughts on CivikOwl: https://medium.com/@berkson0/how...

Pros:

I like the scorecard it gives me rating the "balance" of the articles I read. And that it give me options for alternate viewpoints

Cons:

Would love to see more sites rated. I know it's a matter of time but still... :)

Thanks for the encouragement Alan. Agreed that we need to suggest stories from a wider range of sites. That's ramping up daily so should see better suggestions soon. If not please bug me and we'll double-time it! Lots of great journalism out there that we want to bring to your attention.
