    Pros:

Clean UI, Simple Navigation and Pretty self explanatory

    Cons:

Similar, Not available for Android, Enough Market Reach

Looks bit common concept, Requesting to develop for Android asap, Target global market reach, especially Asian countries like India and near by, because this kind of apps are very less!

Hi guys! We've just launched Orbit and keen to hear your thoughts! Orbit is a fun and easy way to meetup with nearby friends and discover interesting people around you and at the places you visit. Think of it as a hyperlocal social network. We've taken an approach to location sharing with friends and family that gives you more control of your privacy — you can choose to share the district you’re in or just the city you’re in. If you’d like to temporarily share your precise locations with each other, or with a group of friends, you can easily arrange a ‘Meetup’ in a few taps. Whenever you’re free to socialise, just set yourself as ‘available’ and nearby friends will be notified of where you are and what you’re in the mood for. ☕️ Free after a meeting? Catch up with a nearby friend for a coffee. 🛬 Just landed? Easily let your friends know you’re in town. 🍹 Just finished work? See who’s around and free for a drink. Beyond our friends and family there are the people around us that we don’t know and opportunities to broaden our social and professional circles. Become ‘discoverable’ to tap into a hyperlocal network of people in your area and at the places you visit. Orbit will show you profiles of other discoverable users, match interests you both share, and let you break the ice with a quick message. 🎟 At a conference or event? Check-in to see who else is attending. 👋🏻 Looking to meet new people? See who’s in your area with similar interests. 🌎 Travelling? Discover and meet people at the places you visit. Looking forward to hear your thoughts and we're here to answer any questions!

I know there are a lot of apps like this but this is kinda weird. It's like privacy is obsolete

@ohitsmerenz Hey Renz, I totally agree and this was one of the primary reasons we built Orbit. For every friend you add to Orbit you choose whether to share the district you're in or just the city. If you’d like to temporarily share your precise locations with each other, or with a group of friends, you can easily arrange a ‘Meetup’ in a few taps. If you choose to be 'discoverable' then other people will only see that you're 'in the area'. At anytime you can choose to go 'Off-grid' which will hide your location from everyone.

@oliverwaters looks good. Super keen to check out the app, what are your plans for android? How do you see the community reaching critical mass? These kinds of location aware networking apps are tricky to get the ball rolling (I've worked on something similar), and obviously become more sticky when there is activity and interaction to be had. Also what inspired you both to make Orbit?

@h0rseh0rse Hi Chris! Thanks for the questions. Android is planned, but we've focussed on iOS initially. At this stage we're exploring how people use Orbit. The utility aspect of finding nearby friends encourages inviting others to use the app and this will form the foundation of the network. Of course, we also have other plans for growth alongside this. The idea first came about when I was sat in a coffee shop after a meeting in London. I wanted a way to find out if any friends were nearby and free, and let them know I was in the area. There's simply no easy way to do this. Looking around I realised there was a lot of other people also sat on their own and that left me wondering who they were. Since then I've hit countless scenarios where an app like Orbit would be useful for discovering people — at conferences, airports, travelling etc. We're not the first to try to answer the questions "Who's nearby?" or "Who's around me?", but we think our approach helps solve the problems we've experienced first hand whilst tackling the privacy issues associated with location sharing.

Quick little issue when signing up: when I try to sign in with FB, it says that I don’t meet the requirements of the app’s criteria. Is there a way you could manually verify me if I give you the link to my FB profile?

@itsmidnightyo This could be due age restrictions. At present the minimum age for use of the service is 18. If that's not the case, let me know.

@raynes_cc Thanks Andrew. It's a little quiet now but we're growing so hopefully you'll see people popping up soon!

@oliverwaters it should send the meet up to Twitter, Facebook and other social media. That will help you grow. I would also check out Couchsurfing they pretty much offer the same service in there app, but you can meet up in groups also which sometimes people prefer. Lets dating (like) and more just a meet up :) Just my ideas.
