Have been following this game since it was announced. I love the science behind the procedural generation and the possibilities it creates, however with a universe so large I feel like multiplayer becomes a lot more important. I think there was a recent interview which mentions multiplayer will be more like Journey, with limited or no interactions with other players. While I loved the multiplayer experience in Journey, with a game on this scale if I can't at least trade or explore with other players the universe will feel quite lonely and pointless.

This is a very valid point and I agree, even though I think there is value in a game that explores being alone (loneliness is a mental creation) and pointless (the means become the end) because secretly you know you can disconnect and feel a bit more 'real' in 'reality'. It looks to have the potential of taking the exploration capabilities of a GTA-style game (not necessarily multiplayer)...and combining it with the pure artistic aesthetics of Journey. Time will tell!

There's an article in "New Yorker" about this game that gives a bit more info: http://www.newyorker.com/magazin... My anticipation for this reminds me of how I felt about Spore from EA. I hope this one delivers more...
If you're at all geeky and interested in this game, the philosophy behind the creator(s) and the procedural engine it uses, you HAVE to watch this behind-the-scenes interview with the founder of Hello Games:
