Elon has often spoken of the next step in human intelligence involving a direct link between our brain and the AI. This panel he was recently on with all the best AI people in the world is super interesting:
TL;DR Elon believes our (human) "input" is actually quite high (our eyes can see a lot of things in super HD) but our "output" is limited by what he calls "meat sticks" (our fingers). Hence, the solution is to connect the AI directly to our brain, so we can have input/output closer to that of a machine.

Man, I don't know how he does it. Running so many relevant, important companies... how does he have time for another one? BCI (brain computer interface) seems inevitable, excited to see him working on it.
It's pretty hard to find more info, TechCrunch wrote a brief article: https://techcrunch.com/2017/03/2...

@a13n I thought exactly the same thing when I heard about this. The other exciting thing is that despite all his projects seeming initially sci-fi-esque they actually start to show results so since it's been operating for a year I'm hoping we will see something from it soon.

How he does it? Picking some technologies at left of the Gartner's hype cycle.... there is other report that consider other dimension: the imapct that it would have. BCI is part of the transfomational.

This company is hard to do my research on, thats for sure. All I could also find is a max@neuralink.com email address, who seems to be https://angel.co/maxhodak in addition to the jobs@neuralink.com one.
Whois.sc shows Neuralink IT Solutions, Inc. as the holder, but thats just probably who they bought the domain from.

@zak_kinion @neuralink nice find! I figured that has to be the homepage, would make sense for a stealth startup like that to 1) have a landing page and 2) have it link only to jobs 😎

BCI is such an interesting field of work, I found the idea of mind uploading and BCIs to be particularly interesting about a year ago. I believe @WalterOBrienSCS steered me towards it after @tferris ' podcast with him. (see link below)
There's quite a few popular figures working in this field, physics heavyweight Michiu Kaku in particular is big into neuroscience on a general level, but its cool to see lots of big names trying to understand this fascinating biological computer we call a brain.
All in all its a "scary" step into a new direction. Scary mostly because its a step in the direction of something that hasn't been formally attempted (en-mass that is). Will be interested to see both the ethical and technical considerations of the "product".
Which makes me curious to know if it is a company, a research project/lab, or another organization such as Open AI, any insights?
edit; whoops forgot link:
