There is a number of similar products surfacing the Web. I like Malevich more for 2 reasons. First, the name. Second, UI is quite nice. Wide choice of artist options to choose from including Malevich, Chagall, Van Gogh, Matisse & etc.

@nikitakorotaev I've put through a picture of a friend and the outcome was horrendous. Don't pick sleeping gypsy

@nikitakorotaev thank you for your review. We got interested in neural networks and made Mlvch during hackaton to test the idea. We launched it to check on our friends and immediate surrounding what would be the reaction. Now we can start improving.

@aaronisabaer @nikitakorotaev yes, sleeping gypsy is the worst performing painting so far. I am sorry to hear that. We now look at the performance of each painting and will up-date the list based on results. Please, use promo code 5_free_plz_qw (go to setting, then preferences, then type it as email) to try more. I only can add that it's better to use portrait paintings for portrait photos and landscapes for landscapes photos. I hope you will create something cool.

@nikitakorotaev thanks for the tip! I really like these apps (and the technical aspect is intersting as well) But the pricing is ridicolous. One pic for 1.- 😂
Ryan Hoover@rrhoover · Founder, Product Hunt
@jonas_petermann @nikitakorotaev agreed. I was a bit disappointed to be upsold after the first pic.

@rrhoover @jonas_petermann I actually quite like the current monetization concept. Though would upper the limits a bit

@jonas_petermann @nikitakorotaev We know that pricing is high. The problem is that processing time for each work is on average 2 min on nvidia tesla_K40, so it's expensive for us as well. We benchmarked ourselves vs. other services where it costs 2 euro. We now are really focused on decreasing time and price, so we plan to make it several times cheaper soon. But we needed to try first and see if there is any conversion at all. If no-one ever bought anything, we would not have anything to optimize

@rrhoover @jonas_petermann @nikitakorotaev the works are expensive for us as well. It was a hackaton and we didn't know conversions, so we needed to play safe. We agree with you that it's the biggest disappointment and now work hard to offer significantly lower prices. You can use a promo-code for product hunters - 5_free_plz_qw (go to setting, then preferences, then type it as email)

@enotius @rrhoover @jonas_petermann @nikitakorotaev Great tech, just don't like your model. You see this kind of art on Hallmark cards a lot, so one angle is to promote more creation for free. Your infrastructure costs become your cost of user acquisition for the app because people inherently want to share stuff that makes them instantly look like a pro artist. The more they create, the more they will share. In the app, up-sell card printing / writing / delivery, or drop in Canvas Pop's printing API and there are healthy margins on outsourced canvas printing. Given your digital output, I think people would naturally envision that on a canvas Canvas pop deals with everything in that regard.

@joshbarkin We also think that price of creation should as small as possible. We want to add printing in the future and make works cheaper. Yet at the moment we cannot offer making creation free. We are a small team and we bootstrapped this app. I promise to make works cheaper with next release
Josh Barkin@joshbarkin · Co-founder @ Janis.ai
@enotius Well if you want to achieve Prisma's success, make it free so people share like crazy. Think about growth and how that can attract investment or acquisition.

Super cool. Very similar to Pikazo (cc @jtzou @staringispolite @nikkielizdemere). Just made this (f/t @suzywillow):

@rrhoover have Pikazo as well. Doing a comparision right now with the same picture from Malevich. That's the good thing at Pikazo that you can use your own pictures...

@jonas_petermann oh nice. Curious how they compare. Share the photos here when they're ready! 🙏

@jonas_petermann @rrhoover We benchmarked ourselves against Pikazo as well and decided to use high quality images vs. low res. The overall results should be better. Now we work on lowering the prize.

@enotius I made to comparison and have to say; the result with Malevich is far superior to Pikazo. It's far more realistic and resolution of the final image is also better 👌🏼 If I just could upload the picture...
