Love this idea, @toddg777. We've sent the Product Hunt handwritten community letters in the past, but it's very time intensive. Any plans to offer this in handwritten form? Would also love to be able to include a sticker via StickerMule. 🙏🏼

@rrhoover Thanks, Ryan! I received a handwritten note from your team back during my Eventjoy days. It was a nice surprise. We don't have any plans for handwritten notes today. What do you think about a variety of handwritten fonts that are actually nice? :)

@toddg777 @rrhoover there are those services that let you handwrite all the letters into a pdf, scan it, and then convert it to a font using your handwriting. Being able to upload a custom font like that, to use here, would be absolutely amazing!

@rrhoover @toddg777 This seems really wonderful...but saying that a handwritten font is the same as a human being handwriting each letter is completely different. One is done entirely by a human another is done in part by a machine. In essence, this really are two separate businesses because one would cause more friction in scale etc, reminds me of that movie Her where the lead actually did this exact thing for a living. That scene was actually fostering a discussion around this not can this be technically possible it could years ago it's that should it be this way and what are the costs when we in some way disconnect people a bit. I'd love to see an option even if there was an additional cost around making this more personal, handwritten notes would do that. Because their is a difference between getting a handwritten heartfelt card from a human and facebook, a computer system sending out an automated email saying happy birthday to me.

@nicholassheriff @rrhoover Agreed. I think there's a middle ground. Handwritten cards can just become cost prohibitive even at a modest scale. From the campaigns we've seen go through Mailjoy so far, none of them even include a personal message where this would come into play. Edit: Forgot to mention, the precursor to Mailjoy was a consumer app called Cardpop (https://www.producthunt.com/post...) where we helped people send personal, snapchat-like postcards to friends and family.

@toddg777 @rrhoover I completely agree Todd and I think you guys are doing a tremendous job, but I think I was actually focusing on the choice bias...and fostering a user experience with product design that could celebrate both value propositions equally. Because there are two things tied to the perception of what your company stands for and the overwhelming value you might want to offer in your product or service and I'm focusing on the messaging and perceived value and experience. The value you offer and what value people perceive that can actually be gathered from your product/service. It reminds me in the 90s when I was designing for clients and no one wanted to put their number on their website because they felt like their would be inundated with phone calls. But they actually ignored that statistically just making something like live chat/phone number visible not even operational increased conversions and confidence in the brand. Also it was less than 0.05% of their userbase that even clicked on the link/action to call they literally took that step as a sign of what the company was saying. That we are transparent and that your satisfaction is paramount above all else and that's great product design of an expeirence around people. So there is this wrestle with the value and perception people want to see and feel and with the motivations surrounding what founding teams might feel is in the best interest with the user and with building a sustainable and profitable company. Because any corp can actually have the discussion go one way and not two and say this is how we think you should feel and be empowered and not this is how you told us you also want to feel. I'd personally say do more r&d work here that doesn't marginalize one experience over the other...if you celebrate not doing this you will foster the metrics you're after, but that's just me.

@james_osullivan @toddg777 @rrhoover totally agree I use funky pigeon a lot to send personalised cards (birthdays etc) to my overseas friends/family but wish I could do so without giving the 'game' away (eg that I used a digital service). It somehow negates the personal effort put into making it a physical service if it looks driven by a digital one. I think the perfect win here is to print these on mass (eg machines) but make the printing look so damn good you cant tell the difference between handwritten. Co-incidentally I met an entrepreneur building a handwriting 'machine' farm of sorts in Germany that does exactly this if you'd be interested in connecting would be happy to dig out details.

@rrhoover @toddg777 I agree with Ryan, a more "personalized" feel would really help convert better. Todd, your idea of some handwritten fonts (that don't suck), would be a good compromise in the meantime :)
