"certified" health coaches are mentioned a few times. What does that mean, certified by who? Are these nutritionists, dietitians, physical trainersโ€ฆ? Is there any content that helps me build trust with Lever so I can believe the guidance I would get as a customer? I would hate to sign up and wind up getting dubious health advice like following new fads like ketogenic diets or fasting.

It doesn't seem like this is something that a Health Coach can effectively offer. It also seems like Health Coaches _can_ be certified but there isn't anything that explicitly requires them to be certified. Is that right? If so, Who specifically is certifying the health coaches used by Lever and what are they specifically certified to be capable of?

@_taurean @pubkevin here is a list of the certification programs that we hire from https://nbhwc.org/find-an-approv... Some programs are led by medical schools like Duke and Cleveland clinic. Just like personal trainers there is not a legal requirement for certification state by state for health coaches, but this is something that is being tested for weight loss in a clinical setting by the VA. Companies like Omada and Livongo use certified Heath coaches for weight loss. Health coaches do not plan meals for members or tell them which Marcos to eat. Health coaches help with behavioral changes - driven by the members who desire to adhere to the changes they are looking to make. Health coaches are great at helping with support and accountability. MDs and Dietitians are great at telling you what you should do, certified health coaches help you figure out how to actually meet your goals. If it was easy to simply get told what to do and follow it then we wouldnโ€™t need the support and adherence health coaches help provide.

@_taurean A number of things that we do to focus on men. First of all, most other weight loss programs assume a baseline of knowledge around fitness and nutrition that is much higher. In our beta, our male beta users answered 'education on fitness and nutrition on a scale from 1-10' much lower. As a result we get started with a lower assumed understanding of fitness and nutrition. In addition, as part of the assessment we bet an understanding of their current baseline in terms of healthy habits, we found that men starting with Lever eat less healthy meals per week and are less active. Finally, we access 90 days of historical fitness data from Apple Health and the baseline movement and sleep is also lower.
