Simple private sharing for families

5.0/5
About

At Kindaba, we’re building a space where you can keep all family communication in one place. Our features are designed to include the whole family. As more of our lives are lived online, and we raise children in this digital age, we want a safe space for them to interact with their private family network.

Would you recommend this product?

Kindaba is still developing, but these guys are SO responsive and so keen to make this a product that really works for people and protects family privacy. Super trustworthy, and I can't wait to see where kindaba goes in the future

Pros:

extremely responsive, helpful team who prioritise your privacy

Cons:

Still working out some bugs, but these get better every day.

How do I copy the messages you provided for sharing? When I press and hold it's only highlighting one word not the whole text. I'm on an android phone.

Having a place to share with family and friends in a controlled social network gets rid of that constant worry about what you are sharing with your inner circles and one of the primary reasons I like Kindaba. I can choose who I share things with, without being tracked or targeted by ads. I see this as a great option for families and parents who want to share photos or experiences with their extended family members, but don't want their child's photos on Facebook, Instagram, etc.

Pros:

Provides the ability to maintain privacy within your own social network without sacrificing useful and necessary features.

Cons:

Features are currently at their beginning stages, but shows high potential as more users join.

It's still in beta, but the team is very responsive and keen to help people!

Pros:

secure

Cons:

there are some bugs, but they are working fast to fix them!

I don't like social media. I do have family that want to share pictures of babies and travels and new outfits for a wedding or some other such things. These things in my opinion are not for public consumption they are for the small group of people I consider family. Kindaba lets me share what I need without getting annoyed by people seeing these things. Kindaba brings a little class and discretion to the over the top over exposed world of facebook/snapchat/instagram.

Pros:

Private sharing, easy UI for people of all ages

Cons:

A little buggy but every bug I've reported has been dealt with really quickly

This is the next big

Pros:

Private

Safe

Very responsive to omments/suggestions

Excellent tech support

Friendly and funny staff

Great

Cons:

Just that it is still in development stage

Keen to know if agile or waterfall dev strategy?

Pros:

Simple and easy to use

Cons:

None as yet bugs quickly removed

Hi there! Thanks for the question @graham_robertson — our development team uses a 2 week sprint workflow, which is mostly based on scrum with a few kanban features added in (like limits to identify bottlenecks) to customise it to our preferences. So, definitely agile and mostly scrum. 😄

Finally a social media space to connect family and friends, and not to sell ads or to data mine

Pros:

Safe. Secure. no ads.

Cons:

None so far.

Really excited to see how Kindaba develops over the coming months and years - it's a really unique idea and honestly something I could see myself using with my parents-in-law (who live abroad and whom I often find myself 'saving up' stuff for long emails to - Kindaba could let me quickly and conveniently send random photos and thoughts!).

However, I would LOVE to know when the web app will be released - neither my husband nor my parents-in-law have sufficiently good tech to use the Android app. What sort of timeframe are you looking at? :) Once the web app is up I can't wait to start sharing.

Pros:

Love the concept, great mobile interface.

Cons:

App doesn't work on older versions of Android.

Hi Dawn! Thanks for the kind comments and for using Kindaba! We are actively improving the performance of our Android application and releasing regular updates over-the-air and on the Play Store which has been increasingly enabling less-capable devices to use Kindaba too — make sure your family has the latest version from the stores. This is really important to us, and we test our updates on entry-level Android phones to ensure everyone has the best possible experience. In terms of a web-based app, this is definitely in our pipeline and something to watch out for Spring 2018 here on Product Hunt! 😸

Being a young father and security conscious, this app is the perfect way for my wife and I to share our special moments with our family without the whole world also seeing what we're up to. I like the fact our data is ours and only ours, and not used for promotional activity or demographic profiling etc. No adverts follow you around the internet if you use this app!

Pros:

Great concept, awesome team and super fast support

Cons:

A little buggy, but this is being worked in day in day out and shouldn't put people off using!

No. See above. Says it all...

Pros:

the idea of a safe private way to share among your nearest and dearest without your data being owned by someone else is brilliant.

Cons:

cant think of one yet...

Love the app and what it stands for. Would love to hear more from the Kindaba team about what makes this app unique for kids, and what plans there are for messaging service in the future?

Pros:

Privacy, attractive layout

Cons:

doesn't have messaging yet

Great question!! Our Kindaba beta community are with you - clamouring for messaging. We definitely have plans for messaging and hope to have news on that front pretty soon 😉. As for a kids experience, that too is in our roadmap, requested by our users, as it's super important to us to be building something that can be used by anyone regardless of their age and savviness. To make sure we get the balance right and get the experience right, we're doing lots of research into what makes a kids experience fun, but also crucially what will make it encourage activity outside of the app (in the real world!!). We're also committed to making Kindaba compliant with directives like GDPR (young people's software), COPPA, and others around the world. We're getting great feedback about what our member families want the most from a Kids experience, and look forward to sharing more about it soon.

I want privacy and I also want to share. Kindaba solves the paradox And does so with a gorgouse and simple interface

Pros:

It is easy to use regardless of how tech savvy you are so it's good for everyone in the family. And the interface is so clear and simple

Cons:

There are still teething problems as with any new app, but feedback is easy and they are super responsive

Privacy is becoming increasingly more important and Kindaba are looking to capitalise on this. I can't wait to see how their product evolves.

The team is very open to hearing feedback and they are still developing their product. Highly recommended for all folks, but especially those with kids or family members that don't live in the immediate area. Our family uses it as a dynamic photo album with family members that live in California, Utah, Boston, and D.C. Excited to see the development and to continue using the app!

Pros:

Great personable and very responsive team.

Share photos and memories in a safe, private, ad-free way.

Cons:

Fixing a few bugs but improving daily.

Excited for the potential! I love dabbling in social media platforms so I'm excited to see this network grow. I think there are some really great features that new parents will find attractive and that the application itself would be easy enough to navigate for even the least tech savvy grandparents. I've seen a lot of photo sharing platforms that are designed with privacy in mind, but none as beautiful or simple as Kindaba.

Pros:

Really lovely interface, love the idea of privacy and family oriented function

Cons:

I'm not finding use super intuitive, my family is firmly ~not~ made of early adopters

Share

This is super great and I can't wait to get ALL of my family on it. This will enable our family to truly come together, across the miles and not feel as though we are missing out on so much!

Pros:

A new and amazing option for staying in touch with family - of all generations!

Cons:

Still a little buggy, but the team is responsive to feedback.
