So much to learn from Indie Hackers, IH podcasts, the interviews and the community. A breath of fresh air from the 'traditional' startup talk (glorified VC funded startups).

Pros:

Best podcast about startups out there, also great community and interviews

I love what IH is becoming. Moving the forum front and center was a great idea. I love all the content, but the community is why I keep coming back.

Keep up the good work guys!

I discovered Indie Hackers last year through the podcasts and enjoy the conversations that unfold on the forums. I've learned a lot there but have also been inspired to do better in my side hustles.

Pros:

It's an incredibly inspiring community where I've learned a lot from a diverse range of makers. Makes me want to be a better entrepreneur.

Cons:

None so far.

There is way too much rah-rah in the startup/ entrepreneurship space. (For this reason I did not think I would like Indie Hackers, but I like the site and community. ) Indie Hackers publishes interviews and income on projects, so it can easily slide into rah-rah, but does not. Here are interviews with founders, learning from mistakes and sharing this.

Pros:

Interesting interviews provided an excellent and entertaining way to learn from school of hard knocks

Indie Hackers has been an amazing source of inspiration, content, guides, feedback, and learning from others. The community is very thoughtful, which can't be said about much. When someone posts a question or a story, no one is going to comment something stupid, vague, or sarcastic. It's all super constructive and valuable.

Pros:

Real, honest, no BS entrepreneurship

Way too much great content to read it all. Definitely binge-worthy so I have to make use periodically as bootstrappers have no time. Great contributors and I'm sure lots of happy lurkers! Courtland has done an amazing job nurturing this.

Pros:

Asking all the questions bootstrappers need answered

Cons:

I was looking to start an online business, and I wasn't sure that one could do it alone. I searched on the internet and found a short Reddit post on running a business as a solo. Few people commented out, saying they have such a business. Later on, I found IndieHackers, and it was like in Avatar movie: you wade through the jungle and finally discover the whole new wonderful world. But instead of blue creatures there were solopreneurs :)

Pros:

Great source of inspiration useful content!

Cons:

none

An investor

Courtland is as thoughtful as they come. can't say enough great things about the community he has built and continues to foster.

Pros:

reframing what success in biz actually means. it's not all "IPO or death"

Cons:

still searching...

Founder, DwellDown

Love the podcasts and interviews. Hoping to be able to share the story of DwellDown on the show one day. Thanks for creating such a great community.

Pros:

insightful and transparent for new founders looking to build a revenue driving business

Cons:

none of the top of my head

great stories to learn from, shows the power of side hustles for software developers who typically undervalue their own skills and talent

Pros:

amazing stories, lots to learn

Cons:

needs to have a companion guidebook ;)
