@kevinleehenry also my question as well. curious to see if @dhruvakumar's solution is skirting the regulation by having it as just a "second opinion" versus medical advice

@m1lesv Not at all, Miles. In fact we are in the process of becoming HIPAA compliant as a platform and working to get fully HIPAA compliant.

@m1lesv @kevinleehenry AFAICT it isn't HIPAA-compliant for the same reason First Opinion isn't: neither the company nor the doctors are based in the U.S.

@thetylerhayes You got the point Tyler. Our processes are secure. By meaning on working to be HIPAA compliant, I meant registering a US company and getting only US doctors. It's for people who want such a thing.

So technically speaking, HIPAA is a US based law although it applies to the governing of any US based citizen's PHI and extends to Business Associates and Subcontractors, which in this case would automatically make Slack a Business Associate of your doctors (the Covered Entities). @kevinleehenry Yes Kevin. That's why I said we should work together to find a solution. Since we are second opinion platform for now, we are good. Eventually we look to do first opinions as well. Probably by then we should be able to get a solution from slack with your help. 😄

@dhruvakumar @kevinleehenry wouldn't the smarter thing to start in the country they are in versus USA or Europe (which is even stricter than USA). That way there is no issue. Scale as you become complaint.
