I think this product is a scam. If so, it is disgusting. I believe it is a scam because my 'live' plot image is identical to the image shown in the app's on-boarding.

@nivo0o0 @alxknt @swiftonsecurity I was about to share this. This is really shitty. Check their statement : http://grey.com/singapore/news/k...

Powerful idea. I wish I zoom in an out to the ocean and also tells me which blocks are taken and still vacant, So I could search other blocks. An Idea: Wouldn't it be easier if the app developers would use some kind of image comparison and once it notices something on the grid that belongs to a user it can send a push to check it out.

An app that crowd-sources the search of the sea for migrants by giving access to the satellite image of the sea to smart phone users.

@nivo0o0 The power of the crowd is huge...but on ad-hoc occasions. I'm wondering how this will work on a daily basis... Noble intentions. Hope it helps saving lives.

Cant this kind of processing be automated with some decent image recognition software? Surely faster/better than the crowd (which would need massive scale to be truly effective)
Jason Dainter@jasondainter · International doer of things
@jasondainter ... And its a scam. Well that answers that question. Truly disgusting, i'm not actually sure how any human could stoop as low to take advantage of refugees. They should all end up behind bars.

How old are the satellite images? Once identified, can the boats be reach and the migrants helped?
Liza Dixon
@joshdance "Your Plot" (designated satellite image of the sea) is updated to show a real-time image each time you return to the app (although I have had to close the app to get it to update). When you flag a suspicious spot, @moas_eu reviews the image and sends the coordinates to a rescue boat, which can then travel to the location to investigate.
